Job summary : Assist with running patients in a very busy Pediatric Specialty Clinic

Brief summary of duties to include, but not limited to:

  • ! Greet and assist patients & families courteously
  • Assist administrative/office staff with phone call coverage
  • Preps patients to be seen in the practice according to hospital and practice standards.
  • Suture and staple removal, assist with minor surgical procedures in office setting, all performed and documented per practice guidelines, per protocol .
  • Assist physicians with admissions to include calling registration, call report to the Unit, photocopy all practice documentation to go with the patient, arrange transport.
  • Performs ongoing patient screening, planning and implementation of patient care by effectively implementing the care, and teaching plan in collaboration with provider and Clinical Coordinator.
  • Refills routine prescriptions documented per practice guidelines or refer to Clinical Coordinator for triage.
  • Ensures sterile technique(s) are maintained: Patient and room are ready when the provider arrives. C! onsent is signed and available. Room and supplies are processe! d according to EMMC Infection Control policies.
  • Support physicians in differing specialties
Education/Experience Requirements: Current Maine LPN license in good standings required. BLS/AED Certification

  • Ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Computer skills
Physical Requirements : Flexibility, dexterity, visual acuity, hearing acuity, able to work sitting at work station, using keyboard, working in front of a video display monitor, moderate walking throughout facility. This individual must be able to lift approximately 15 pounds unassisted. Reaching and stretching intermittently are required for assisting patients in the ambulatory setting. The CMA must possess the degree of total body strength and flexibility necessary to assist patients with transf! ers and mobility. The CMA must be able to lift approximately a 200 lb. patient with the help of several other health care workers. Patients are assisted in ambulating from the waiting room to exam rooms and back. Portable O2 tanks are lifted onto racks from the floor to stretchers or wheel chairs. The CMA must possess the degree of respiratory volume and upper body strength to perform CPR and other patient care treatments. They must be able to stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from supply carts and to bend to reach equipment stored below the waist.

Working Environment : Busy, often stressful, ambulatory setting providing direct patient care to all age patients
