For detail informations about this job opportunity please read the description below. Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant: Full-Time, 40 hr/wk . The certified occupational therapist assistant (COTA) is responsible for the imp! lementation of a program of purposeful activities to develop or maintain adaptive skills necessary to achieve maximal physical and mental functioning of the individual’s daily pursuits under the supervision of an occupational therapist (OTR). The COTA may also assist the OTR in evaluation and the development of a treatment plan. The practice of “occupational therapy†includes, but is not limited to the following: evaluation and treatment of individuals whose abilities to cope with the tasks of living are threatened or impaired by developmental deficits; the aging process; learning disabilities; poverty; cultural differences; physical injury or disease; psychological and social disabilities; or anticipated dysfunction.
Patient population consists of neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Position Qualifications : Minimum: Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. Preferred: Associates Degree in Occupatio! nal Therapy with two to three years work experience. Licensure! /Certification: National Certification/Registration and State of Maine as an occupational therapist assistant (COTA/L); CPR.
Working Conditions: Capable of meeting physical demands required for positioning/transferring patients, transporting equipment. Includes, but not limited to moving and lifting patients to and from stretchers, w/c, providing resuscitation and restraining patients when appropriate. Light to moderate physical effort • Occasional prolonged standing/walking • Manual dexterity and mobility • Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crunching • Intermittent exertion when performing job tasks/responsibilities • Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances • Travel required • May make home visits • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
