Under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and according to established policies and procedures, performs various service duties and routine te! chnical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and daily living activities. Additionally, this position requires an ongoing commitment to education and development at the unit or hospital wide level. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.
INDIVIDUAL SHOULD HAVE AMBULATORY CARE EXPERIENCE.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry.
Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationship with patients, families, visitors and Maine Medical Center employees.
Consistently models high standards of practice, accountability and professional attitude.
Identifies opportunities for improvement in wo! rk processes and contributes to the implementation of improvem! ent efforts.
Identifies opportunities for improvement in work processes and contributes to the implementation of improvement efforts.

Serves as an orientation assistant and role model for other CNAs. Viewed by staff as a resource that is accessible and approachable.
Ability to read, write and speak English in order to transcribe and communicate approved provider's orders at a level normally acquired through a high school! education.
Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing, and Maine Medical Center.
