The temporary Pediatric Specialties Clinical Coordinator provides outpatient age-appropriate care and teaching to ped! iatric patients and families participating in EMMC’s Specialty Clinics for: Spina Bifida, Hematology/Oncology, Asthma, MD and Cystic Fibrosis. The main focus for this temporary position will be to manage the Cystic Fibrosis patient population including but not limited to:
Chart prep, lead preclinic conference for CF team, administer medications and testing as well as post clinic wrap up and coordinate follow up, track patients diagnosed with CF through Newborn Screening Program and track CF "Full Data Set Guidelines".
Maine RN license is required, BSN required. Pediatric experience is required.
The Clinical Coordinator in the Pediatric Specialty Clinics is responsible for: Documentation of all aspects of the nursing service according to hospital and practice standards. Performing and documenting results of point of care testing and appropriate interventions, peak flow, nebulizer treatment, pulse oximetry performed per practice guidelines. Performs telepho! ne triage, scheduling and prescription refills. Performing app! ropriate patient teaching, explanation of test results, medication side effects, medication reactions and dosages. Performing ongoing patient assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care by effectively implementing the care and teaching plan in collaboration with provider. Recognizing and responding appropriately to emergency situations, including making appropriate calls, directing traffic and obtaining equipment. Providing patients and/or families with education appropriate to identified needs according to standard and documents into the patient’s record. Counseling patients/families to care for or cope with his/her condition. Instructing patients/families for self care regarding dressing changes, medications, urine or blood testing, dietary, and counseling, B/P checks. Accessing/De-accessing and drawing blood from port-a-caths as well as other central lines.
