Description: MaineHealth System is currently interviewing Surgical Technologist Lead-Operating Room right now, this job will be dwelled in Maine. The Operating Room Lead Surgical Technologist utilizes high level technical skills in accomplishment of assigned duties in the operating room. The Lea! d Surgical Technologist works as a member of a multidisciplinary team including: Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Registered Nurses and peer Technologists. The Lead Surgical Technologists also works collaboratively with the OR Cluster Leader in order to ensure all the necessary elements are in place for each surgical procedure. The position requires a high level of independence and self direction. The position also requires advanced knowledge of surgical instrumentation and complex equipment for a countless number of established and evolving surgical procedures. The Operating Room Lead Surgical Technologist must be capable of working collaboratively with other departments such as Central Sterile Supply. The Lead Surgical Technologist must continually maintain national certification from the America Association of Surgical Technologist. At least five years as a surgical technologist with two in the specialty are required.

Assis! ts the members of the surgical team by preparing and handling supplies and surgical equipment during surgical procedures commonly performed at MMC and its ancillary facilities. Surgical procedures include but are not limted to: scheduled general, caridac, neuro, pediatric, multiple trauma, GYN, GU, vascular, orthopedics, as well as complex life-threatening emergencies.

Enhances professional growth by particpating in at least 20 hours per year of educational activities that increase knowledge and improve clinical skills.

Ability to stand continually for several hours, and to move, lift, transport patients, streatchers, equipment, etc.

Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with others.

Ability to concentrate on detail and adjust quickly to changes of assignment.

Knowledge of aseptic technique and operating room standards and procedures, acquired through completion of course in approved school of Surgical Technology, pl! us a minimum of twelve months of surgical technician experience with an emphasis on Surgical Specialities of Cluster.
