Job summary : Assist with running patients in a very busy Pediatric Orthopedic Office working with all age groups.
Brief summary of duties to include, but not limited to: Greet and assi! st patients & families courteously Assist administrative/office staff with phone call coverage Preps patients to be seen in the practice according to hospital and practice standards. Performs and documents results of point of care testing and appropriate interventions, EKG's, visual acuity, audiometry, NST, tympanometry, peak flow, nebulizer treatment, pulse oximetry, wound dressings and ear irrigations are performed and documented per practice guidelines Follow-up visits are scheduled at time of discharge, per protocol and Patient/Family is notified of next appointment. Assist physicians with admissions to include calling registration, call report to the Unit, photocopy all practice documentation to go with the patient, arrange transport. Performs ongoing patient screening, planning and implementation of patient care by effectively implementing the care, and teaching plan in collaboration with provider and clinical leader. Uses Prescription Refill Line, refills routine pre! scriptions noted on medication list or refers to Clinical Coor! dinator for triage. Ensures sterile technique(s) are maintained: Patient and room are ready when the provider arrives. Consent is signed and available. Room and supplies are processed according to EMMC Infection Control policies. Immunizations are scheduled and administered according to practice guidelines and documented.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Graduate or student of a two-year Medical Assistant program accredited by an ABHES or CAAHEP and/or AAMA certified/ eligible for certification under AAMA required.
- Current AAMA certification or must obtain AAMA certification within 18 months of hire required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Organized
- Flexible
- Ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Computer skills
Working Environment : Busy, often stressful, ambulator! y setting providing direct patient care to all age patients
